Elliot Kawaoka
Assistant Coach
Elliot began competing in triathlons in 2009 after spectating and volunteering at Ironman Arizona. He was instantly hooked and enjoyed several facets of the sport: the athletes, the competition, and the supporting endurance community. The full iron-distance triathlons appeal to Elliot the most because it’s at these races where he truly feels like he’s pushing his body to its absolute limits. He loves “digging deep” and seeing how his body reacts to each race’s harsh demands.
Before triathlon, Elliot was a competitive baseball player. He grew up in Seattle and is a diehard Mariners and Seahawks fan. He was a middle infielder for his varsity baseball throughout high school. Elliot also played the piano for 16 years and was also lead alto saxophone player for his high school jazz band (yep, a huge band geek).
Before 2009, Elliot never swam, bike, or ran. He is a very dedicated, passionate and competitive individual with an “all-or-nothing” personality. He has trained diligently for over a decade and has moved up the ranks to become an elite amateur triathlete. Most recently, Elliot won his age group at Ironman Canada. Over the past several years I’ve had the privilege of racing the Boston Marathon (3x), 70.3 World Championship, and Ironman World Championship (3x).
Elliot enjoys passing along his knowledge and wisdom, and helping and inspiring others to achieve their biggest endurance dreams!
